Youthful business owners in the Springfield area display their ideas at community showcase
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – Young business professionals in the Ozarks got a chance Saturday to showcase their businesses.
It’s all part of the Young Entrepreneurs Showcase. The showcase is a workshop for young businesses learning finances, customer service, marketing, and legal literacy. It included business owners from six years old to 25 years old.
The showcase is held two times a year, in May and in December. At the showcase on Saturday, there were more than 50 newly created businesses.
“For me, this is important so that students who may not otherwise have this opportunity get an opportunity…to try their hand in business, try out their confidence and their ability to present, their sales ability. It just helps improve so many skills in the lives of our students. And those who maybe do have the opportunity to do this elsewhere, this is a great chance for them to just expand what they are already doing,” said Jeremy Hahn, the president of Living Adventure.
The business owners go over a business plan, marketing plan, budgeting, and more in workshops and training sessions over the course of five weeks. All the businesses are officially registered with the city of Springfield thanks to the help of Living Adventure.
Attendees had the opportunity to not only purchase and browse their products but also vote for the best business. The top three businesses at the event received a $500 scholarship to help their business get off the ground.
