Zendaya Not “Confident Enough” To Make Directorial Debut – #Shorts

Renowned actress Zendaya is hesitant to make her directorial debut despite ample encouragement from industry greats. In an interview with the New York Times, the ‘Euphoria’ actress cited a lack of on-set confidence. “That is the one place where I can be spontaneous and exist for the purpose of just creating something with other people and feel no guilt about it. But I’m not at the place where I’m quite confident enough to step into directing”, Zendaya said. While esteemed directors like Denis Villeneuve and Luca Guadagnino believe she’s primed for the role, Zendaya remains reticent. The ‘Shake It Up’ star was slated to direct an episode of ‘Euphoria’ season 2 but decided against it. Zendaya does, however, actively learn from her esteemed colleagues, saying she wants to “get as much from this as possible”. Even as she immerses herself in the filmmaking process, Zendaya says she hopes that the confidence will “kick in one day”.
